A workshop that fits in a van.
Maya's started in 2016 with one van, a toolbox and a chest freezer. The idea was simple: most breakdowns on this road are small — a tyre, a battery, a belt, a hose — and most drivers can't afford to lose a day getting the car towed into Brikama town. So we brought the workshop out to the road instead.
Ten years on, the van carries a compressor, a jack set, a battery tester, a welder and enough spares to finish nine jobs out of ten without a trip back. The shop at 79F5+WJ8 is where the rest happens: bigger repairs, engine work, and the cold drinks that keep everyone going through the afternoon heat.
We work on almost anything with an engine — saloon cars, taxis, gelly-gelly vans, pickups, motorbikes and the small tractors that work the gardens behind Sanyang. Cash, Wave or Afrimoney. No appointment needed; just call.

01 Tyres & Punctures
Puncture repair, tube replacement, valve stems, wheel balancing and full tyre swaps. We carry 13", 14" and 15" tubes and a compressor in the van, so a roadside puncture is usually a twenty-minute job.
02 Batteries & Starting
If the engine turns over slowly or clicks and nothing happens, it's usually the battery or the terminals. We test it properly with a load tester rather than guessing, clean the terminals, and jump-start you on the spot. If the battery is finished, we can supply and fit a replacement.
03 Brakes & Suspension
Brake pads, shoes, discs, drums, brake fluid and bleeding. On the suspension side we do shock absorbers, bushes, ball joints and wheel bearings. If you're hearing a knock over the potholes near the market, bring it in and we'll find it.
04 Engine & Servicing
Full service — oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, plugs, and a proper look underneath while it's up. Plus the jobs nobody enjoys: head gaskets, timing belts, water pumps, radiators and overheating. Overheating is the one that kills engines here, so don't drive on a hot gauge. Call us instead.
05 Electrical & Wiring
Lights, indicators, wipers, horns, starter motors, alternators, fuses and the wiring faults that come with a decade of dust and heat. We trace the fault rather than replacing parts until something works — you shouldn't pay for guesses.
06 Motorbikes & Small Engines
Motorbikes, scooters, generators and the small garden tractors. Chain and sprocket work, clutch plates, carburettor cleaning, servicing and general "it won't start" diagnosis. Bring it to the shop or we'll come to it.
07 Pre-Trip & Pre-Purchase Check
Driving up to Banjul, Serrekunda or further? We'll go over the car before you leave — fluids, belts, brakes, tyres, battery, lights, cooling — and tell you honestly whether it's ready. Same check if you're buying a second-hand car and want a second opinion before you hand over money.
08 Breakdown Call-Out
Stuck on the road? Call 989 6659 and tell us where you are and what the car is doing. We cover Brikama Road from Sanyang through to Brikama town, plus the side roads to Kartong, Gunjur and Tanji. If it's something we can't fix at the roadside, we'll tell you straight away rather than charge you for a look.
The refreshment side
Cold drinks, cold water, cold bissap.
The freezer at the shop runs all day. While your car is up on the jack, there's somewhere to sit in the shade with something cold — and that's not a side business, it's half of why people stop here.
We keep the usual: water, soft drinks, bissap, wonjo, ginger, frozen sachets, and a small stock of biscuits, groundnuts and sweets for the road. Cold water is D15. Soft drinks D25. A frozen sachet is D5 and it's the best D5 on this road in April.
Drivers waiting on a longer job get a drink on the house. It's a small thing, but it's the reason people call us back.

Nine in the morning until midnight, seven days a week — including Sundays and public holidays. If you're calling after dark about a breakdown, still call; if we can't come out we'll tell you honestly.

Coming from Brikama town, head west towards Sanyang on the main road. We're on the right-hand side just past the junction, opposite the second hand pump — look for the blue van parked outside and the freezer by the door. Coming from the coast at Sanyang beach, we're about four minutes inland.
There's space to pull off the road in front of the shop, and shade to wait in. If you're calling us out to you instead, just tell us the nearest landmark and we'll find you.
